L’Apothéose de Corneille (The Apotheosis of Corneille)

Exhibited at the Salon in 1880, this work was never completed and has a special place in the body of work of this sculptor, who specialised in animal art. It was directly inspired by an engraved book frontispiece (1663 edition of the Œuvres complètes, or Collected Works) and was offered by the sculptor to the museum in 1884.
